Hubby finally got his Unites States Passport!  Now he's feeling official.  :2faws:

Felicidades! Suerte con su viaje! Los oficiales will always give trouble to those that were fortunate. Sad, but true!

Sorry to hear that hubby was treated badly. I would just tell him to bring both passports. Just in case.

Hubby finally got his Unites States Passport!  Now he's feeling official.  :2faws:

One question though:  He booked his flight to DR using information from his Dominican passport which just expired recently but he wants to travel using his US Passport.  Reading online it doesn't APPEAR that this will be a problem but I'm still not strongly convinced.  I'm scared that there may be an issue in presenting a different passport than what is on the original reservation.

I am also hoping that once and for all that the harassment and humiliation that my husband has experienced coming back from DR will finally come to end now that he is a citizen.  He has been subject to lengthy questioning, having to empty out his baggage and explain items such as candies, officers cutting bags of chocolates and treats, attitudes, suspicion, and very direct prejudice - while every one else around him in in the PR line gets by with no questions and no harassment.  I mean really...who cares that he packed so many clothes for a week trip?  DR is hot and you sweat and most of them bathe more than once a day and change clothes more than once a day.

It doesn't matter which passport he used to book they can either change the info at the ticket counter OR. Have him just check in at the ticket counter with his DR passport as all they do there anyway is verify who he is. When entering security he can use either passport, but just ONE of them. Coming in and out of DR he should use his US passport to have it stamped (otherwise coming back to the U.S. they will harrass him as to why his passport isn't stamped and he is coming back home, obviously from another country). Basically, while going through the security and immigration use the U.S. passport, this may stop the harrassment there. If they tell him to get a tourist card, THEN flash the DR passport.

P.S. The US Government does NOT like people to have more than one passport....just be aware of that.
