Hellloo out there, haven't been here in AGES...  :compute:

Don't even know if there are still active members from "my" time here. Anyways, just wanted to give a brief update for those of who you still log in here and there.

My husband's 1 year anniversary of being in the USA is in a few weeks. Can't believe it!  :) We are stable, both working, got our own place, and everything is truly great (besides the occasional bickering like all couples). This first year has been amazing, even with all the hardships of adjusting to the USA (it's not easy), my husband and I have remained together and UNITED. I wanted to share a good story because not all of these long distance relationships have to end badly, and believe it or not, many of them do not. However, I think the best thing I did was date my husband for 3.5 years (long distance) and giving us plenty of time before taking such a huge step like bringing him to USA. You gotta know your partner before investing so much time, money and emotions!!! Thank God my husband turned out to be all that I thought and a lot more and has proved this to me while here. This ordeal has been one of the hardest in my life, but also 100% worth it.

So for those of you newbies out there currently in a long distance relationship, THERE IS HOPE, not every Dominican is a sanky, but not every Dominican is truly in love either. Use your head before letting your heart totally take over. Listen to the veterans, but don't listen to everything they say either. Believe me, as a newbie here I got some heat myself but I brushed it off and put aside what everyone said. The only person you should listen to is yourself. At the end of the day, you know when you're lying to yourself, so don't do it.

Best Wishes and Best of Luck to everyone!  :dude:

Hey Jenn, sad to see a lot of the old members have moved on, but I guess such is life. So much changes when our SO's get to the states. I agree times go in easy and now so easy waves. But it is all part of the journey. And fighting through a not so easy time makes the union all worth it.

Hope you are well and God willing I will update again next year!
