Dominican Education
« on: June 27, 2014, 09:49:58 am »
Hello Everyone,

My husband plans to attend the Community College when he gets here. For all of those who are from the Dominican Republic, do you have to take the puebra nacionals to attend college here in the US? My husband finished all of his classes but did not plan on attending college in the Dominican Republic so he did not take the test. He did however pass all of his classes which means he finished school.

I called the community college here and they said that he just has to submit his HS transcripts. They never mentioned the puebra nacionals. (Sorry, i think thats mispelled)

Does anyone on here know of anyone who came from the Dominican Republic and attended college? What was required?

Thanks.

i live in florida.  they asked as for high school transcripts and her elementary transcripts as well.  that was it.  we went initially with just the high school transcripts but they made us get the elementary school scripts as well.

Totally depends on the school but most only require a HS transcript. Some don't even require that. I have never heard of the test you are talking about. Most Dominican education is not even recognized in the US.

Las pruebas nacionales are tests every 8th and 12th (4th) grader has to take. If you don't pass them, you don't move up to high school or graduate.

Does anyone know if credits from Universidad de Caribe are accepted here in the States? By the time my wife gets here she will be just about done with her undergrad work.

It really depends on the school here in the states. Most just ask for HS transcripts.
If the person went to college, it depends on the the college here. Call around to different schools as one might accept it and another might not.
For example, I livein Florida and each county has their own community college. One county might accept the credits from the college courses ofrom the DR and another might not.
Call around, don't give up.
