Hey Tim. Yeah I feel like some people are messing it up for others.  Its mostly the females in his family ask me for material things. I don't mind doing things for them. But I just hate when people expect things from me. Like his Aunt one time asked me for the shirt on my back!!!!  :nono:  She messed it up for everyone. I used to bring toys and flip flops from old navy for the kids. Just a few things in my budget. Next time I go I am not going to bring anything for anyone. Just one suitcase for myself.

Clary I am still in disbelief that she asked you for money. Ella no tiene verguenza eh?

haha! verguenza ella? she literally has taken every course possible and still can't do SHIIIT! she thinks things r just going to get handed to her on a silver platter. she WAS working at the ice cream place "BON" but she got fired after 3 days because it was "TOO" cold and she supposedly got SICK and never went back. I talked to my mother in law yesterday and she said the mother had gone by the house to get the girls clothes I left there because she was going to SELL it. . . I bought them some purses when I went on a business trip to San Diego, and I guess she seen the pic of the girls with them and she had the nerve to tell them to give them to her as a gift. the little one said, FUE UN REGALO PARA NOSOTROS NO PARA TI! I just laughed in the backround and told her BE NICE! she told me the other day "no trabajes mucho clary, te vas a enfermar" I told her, "mira muchacha, yo eh trabajado desde los 13 años y no es porke tuve que, es por que ME GUSTA trabajar! la gente se enferma cuando NO TRABAJA!" she says, "ANJA, es asi?" Claro le dije, mirate a ti, vives MALA todo el tiempo!" lol she's a joke. .  :rotfl:

See that's what I don't get about the Dominican culture. If you are brought up poor more than likely the parents aren't teaching you to reach for the stars. I am trying to get Jr out of that mindset. He thinks so small sometimes. I'm shooting for the top. I want to continue my education, land a job with a great salary and watch my money pile up.

Where there is a WILL there is a WAY! If you believe, you can achieve!  It will probably be tough for Jr in the beginning but he'll get used to it! after all this is the land of opportunities right? My hubby is already talking about opening up a car/motorcycle parts shop in the campo. . . I said if that's something you have really thought about and you've figured out the pro's and con's then i'll stand behind you 100%!

Yeah I have heard from other women that the adjustment period is a real PAIN. But he talks about owning his own barber shop. I will definitely stand by him if that is what he really wants. He has to work hard for that and sacrifice alot of time to be a entrepreneur. I need to have Qban talk to him about that.

Funny that you mention that, just today I got into a lease for a Cafeteria here in Miami, I have got to be crazy, I worked from 8AM to 4PM have the store and now a Cafeteria. How? I have no idea, but I can't stand still.

Let me give an example of how may day usually goes like today I woke up at 4:30AM when to check this cafeteria out it is inside a gas station which is open 24 hours I wanted to see the traffic ,from there I went to the store it opens at 7AM was there till 7:30AM then work at 8AM sharp at 4PM am going to the store till 7PM, from there am going back to the cafeteria its already my with a crew of 4 people to clean it and to some painting, so I wont be home till at least 10PM tonight, get home hide the bishop and do the same thing manana. That's seven days a week, so tell Junior to get ready.
Alana tells me that am crazy, again that's me.

Q-ban is f**** crazy. He has no TIME for vacation LOL.

I wish all you ladies a lot of luck in the adjustment period. Unfortunately this is where most American woman/Dominican man relationships go bad. If you are a traditional woman you'll probably do well but if you are a radical feminist forget about it. Dominican men as you know like to be the head of their house (king) and they want their wife to be the second in charge (queen). If you get that and don't try to change them, you should be fine. Anything else and you're on your own. In over 10 years on this forum I don't think I've seen one Dominican man change. Some are more tolerant than others but you can't take the Dominican out of the man. Can't say I blame them. ;)

You are 100% correct with the whole traditional woman thing. At our house, I take care of the inside and he takes care of the outside(with my help sometimes) At first it was super duper over whelming since I'm used to being in charge of EVERYTHING! We have our days because no couple is *perfect* but we work things out. I cook, clean, wash clothes, dishes and pick up his dirty work clothes(all at the same time), and I've learned to live with it because that's what makes my husband happy and proud to call me his wife! The only problem we are having now is him waking me up at 3am because he says I'm SNORING!  :rotfl: it's funny because I never hear myself snoring! oh well!

I agree with you Tim. I am willing to play the traditional role. The man is the head of the household. I truly believe that. Sometimes its harder on the women just because we become the head being the person who takes over the financial role until the hisband can get into the groove of things. I try my best not to throw things that I do in Jr's face because I know he hates it. But sometimes the frustration and stress of the process just has me ready to cuss everyone out!!!  :slap: :rotfl:

The only reason I work the way I do is simple, when I was little kid I was poor as fuck, almost every night for as long as I can remember the only thing in my house for dinner was fry chicken at the time it was about .15 cents a pound or yellow rice with Vienna sausages as I grew older I realize there was something else out there, and I went for it.
There is something about my person because most people like me and its easy for me to get involve in things, besides the fact any one who knows me has full trust in me when it comes to money, yesterday when I sign the lease for the Cafeteria I gave the owner of the property $200.00 and the balance is due at the end of November $1700.00 but that money am going to make it in a month with no problem.
Am always looking for run down places I get in cheap put a little money into it work hard and make it happen, one more thing remember "OPM" I learn that in New York from a old Jewish man it means Other Peoples Money, never use all of yours.
Am not rich by all means, but tonight am not eating fry chicken or yellow rice with Vienna Sausages, no way Probably Mangu  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: am beginning to hate that shit.

Hey Qban, I hope Junior will be inspired when he gets here. He is very smart and has so much potential. I just hope he realizes that sooner than later. I will be here to encourage him along the way. But we definitely have to make a trip to Miami and visit you guys. He needs to talk to strong men preferably a latino man who has his sh*t in order.   :sport:

Just to be clear, I was definitely NOT making fun of you in any way, in fact I admire you for doing what you do, you just make me exhausted just reading what your week is like LOL. I plan on doing the same thing when my wife gets here (soon!). For me it won't be restaurants or calmados, but web sites I have planned and to kick up the Toy Shop a bit with more product, and advertising. I own (I think) 45 domains and have not done much with most of them except this site and the Toy Store, but that's all gonna change when I get my life back. :)

We should plan a DTTUSA reunion one day. All the couples can meet face to face. Just throwing that idea in the universe.

We actually do these every once in a while. Usual cost is about $20 pp. That covers dinner. Someone locally makes the arrangements and we all meet at a restaurant for dinner and drinks. I have flown to NY 2 or 3 times for one of these. We usually hold them in NY because we have so many members from there. If you wanna do one you should volunteer to be the coordinator :)

Dude, by all means I know you were not making fun of me, now if I was you don't wait till your wife gest here, today is the day, all you need is to star and once you do its easy to get use to it.
I am glad at least to have Alana she  is only going to school and taking care of the house, the only days she  spends time now at the store is Saturday and Sunday but just to hang with me for a while  it all works out because when she worked at the store till 7PM I never got to eat a hot plate of food.
I must say she keeps the house impeccable, my cloth are iron and dinner is always ready when I get home at seven. Oh and my glass of wine is already chill. Do it Tim, and remember " Failure is not part of the equation" never ever.

Q-ban, you are an inspiration! I leave in 7 days so I am busy preparing for the interview but as soon as I get back it's balls to the wall. I have some great ideas, and after she gets here I will have more time to work on that stuff. Don't worry I'm not waiting for anything.
