I wouldn't worry too much since you haven't even started the process yet. Long duration trips do help a lot. Also, the fact that you have only been here yourself since 2010 pays dividends when it comes to relationships, especially since according to you, you were already in a relationship with your S.O. before you came here in 2010 yourself.

Filing a K-1 would hurt you more than help you. In the K-1 process, they want to see no less than 2 trips a year, no matter how long you've been together. Stick with the Family based petition! Try to make a few more trips between now and then and you should be ok.

D-mo

Thank you D-mo, I completely understand and appreciate your response. I feel a little better with your words. I will get married in August and I'll file i130. lets see how everything goes. I trust in God everything will be on my side. Have a great weekend.

Agree with D-mo. The K1 is not a good idea. Getting married and filing is the way to go in your case. In the mean time try to make more trips if at all possible even it's just for 3 days or so.

I just had my interview and in a year and 4 months that I was here in the states I did not visit my husband. but............we did live together for a year and a half before I actually moved back. I should say the consul did ask me four times "how many times have you visited your husband"

Thanks, Im glad your interview went well. I also lived in DR , not with him technically but we were together for more than a year, all before I moved perm to the US. I have faith everything will go well.
Thanks for replying.

Question to anyone who is  willing to reply. What supporting documents are required to be submitted with the i130? ive read all the instructions and lots of posts here  and have a pretty good idea of everything I need but would like to know what do you guys say now.  Also, specifically, a police certificate is required for the i130 packet ? <- that I am a bit confused about.

Thanks,

p.s. I am just trying to make a list of all the documents I need to bring back from DR. My time is scarce and its easy for me to forget something.

thanks,

I-130
G-325A for both of you
Evidence of relationship (usually 4-5 pictures)
Petitioner's proof of residence or citizenship
Marriage Certificate (En Extenza and Legalised) plus translation.

These are the main things that go to the USCIS. There are also instructions available for download on the USCIS web site. Check it out as well and make yourself a checklist to go by.

Police Certificate (Acta de Buen Conducta) is for the NVC later in the process.
Birth Certificate EN EXTENZA and Legalised

Yes, you will need several marriage certificates throughout the process. Get 3 or 4 while you are there so you have them when needed. You should also keep one for your records of course.

thanks Tim.
Quick questions anyone who can answer.
1. When filing out i130 or any other form for immigration purposes, is it acceptable/correct to state "none" or "n/a" on items that do not pertain to me or my spouse? or should I leave 'Blank". The reason I ask is because I've read that these forms are very technical, also, I read somewhere that the word "none" should not be used and it is preferred to leave blank-specifically in the boxes where it asks for A-Number, which  neither me or my spouse have.
2. in the lines that ask for spouse's children, should I just ignore and leave blank since he has no children or should I add "no Children" to the second line?
3. the line where it asks to enter the last address where my spuse and I have lived together, what should I put? Technically, we have not had a chance to live together as per say.

any thoughts?

thanks.
RH.

RH.

You MUST fill in all blanks with either "NONE" or "N/A".  If it is a "how many" type question you put "NONE". If it is a "where, when or who" type question, you put "N/A".

You can't put an address for where you lived together if you haven't lived together, so you'd put "N/A" there.

NO BLANK SPACES.

Hey thanks for the response. Another quick question. Can my sister, who lives with me under my same address and carries my same last name, certify with her signature the translation of the Bc and MC? I ask because at the bottom of the translation is the certification where the person who translates puts name, address. Im not sure if its an issue that the translator is my own sister and lives with me.

Any thoughts?

It won't be an issue. All the person translating the document is doing is certifying that they are competent in both languages and able to completely and accurately translate the document.
