Citizenship - And Family...
« on: September 07, 2016, 12:02:52 am »
Hey everyone!  My husband is working on his studies for citizenship... I am dying for him to bring over his mom and sister.

His mom I know once he is a citizen he can apply and it will take about a year.. That's awesome.. we are excited.. I know his sister it will take many many years, right?

Would his sister be able to still apply for a visitors visa if she was already petitioned for? (He can apply for citizenship in November, I think.. He'll be here 3 years November 8th.  We want to apply for them both right away, unless anyone has some magic pill, secret potion.. I'm into all those snake oils you know :) hehehe..

His sister is losing her eyesight at just 43 years of age.. She is to the point she can't see colors... I am so praying we can get her over here before she loses it all.. :(   She's beautiful and an awesome woman if any man is reading this and wants a nice wife.. (hey worth the try) lol..

Thanks in advance!!!    :champagne:

Love, Peace, and Happiness!!

If I were you I would have his mother file for her daughter once she arrives! She can file the petition for her daughter the day she gets her green card. The priority dating is waaaaaay different for spouses, parents and children vs. siblings.

We filed for my mother in law the day my wife got her citizenship docs. A year later (June 2015) her mom arrived. A few months after she got here, we filed in her name for her 2 sons (wife's brothers), their cases are at the NVC waiting for visa numbers now. Their visa category bulletin shows that they are only about 4 or 5 months away from their priority date. If my wife had filed in her own name for her brothers it would be 5 YEARS or more away from their priority date.

A medical expedite may be a possibility.......it wouldn't hurt to try when the petition does get filed.

Thank you D-mo!! That sounds awesome!!! Also could she still apply for a visitor visa while waiting for her mom's visa date? Or don't even go there?!

You already know the chances of approval. But that doesn't mean she cant try, it isn't that expensive. No reason to wait until a petition is filed to try. If she can get approved, the longer she has it before a petition is filed, the better chance of holding on to it while the petition is in process. Sometimes they revoke visitor visas after a petition is in process.
