Interview questions.
« on: March 29, 2017, 06:46:36 pm »
Hi all!

My husband and i are prepping for our cita and i came across this:

"As of January 1st, 2015, all Immigrant Visa applicants who have an appointment scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC) must visit the offsite Visa Application Center (VAC) at the Galleria 360 mall in Santo Domingo for fingerscans and photos prior to their interview at the U.S. Embassy. Please visit www.ustraveldocs.com/do in order to make an appointment at the VAC. Any applicant who appears at the Embassy for an interview prior to having visited the VAC will be turned away and asked to re-schedule."

Is this a requirement for immigrant visas?

thank you!

Yes. They get some paperwork and administrate stuff out of the way at the VAC center (Like giving them the passport size photos and taking finger prints) so that all that you have to do at the cita is the interview. Saves time and frustrations. Since some people don't live close to Santo Domingo this can be a pain because it means another trip to the capital. To avoid extra travel a lot of people schedule the VAC appointment for the same day as the medical exam. Sort of like killing two birds with one stone so to speak. You won't have to make an extra trip just for the VAC appointment.

Yes, and it seems to have helped quite a bit for the Embassy process. As Marc said, all of the formalities are handled at the VAC now prior to interview. I'm sure some people are able to make an appointment at the VAC to concur with the Embassy interview date, but I doubt that will work for everyone as there aren't always appointments available. I would recommend making the VAC appointment ASAP as well as the medical exam and have everything done and finished well before interview day if possible.

Hi guys,

I'm happy to report that my SO and i went on our interview April 26th and got approved! It was so quick and easy, we waited about an hour to be called and the consulate one asked if we had kids together and approved us !Last week my husband picked up his visa and we purchased a flight for June 14th(he needs to wrap up some work before leaving).

Thank you all for all your help!
