Sibling Visa Options
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:12:07 pm »
Hi,
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here.  We’ve been stateside for 8 years now and have a happy home and two beautiful babies!

I’m back because I’m interested in helping my adult sister-in-law apply for a visa.  She currently has a work visa to work on the cruise ships and a multiple entry tourist visa.  She’s coming to visit us for a month this summer.  She has hopes of some day immigrating, being able to work here etc.

It looks like siblings are the lowest preference and the wait is about 15 years!  Is that true of all countries or is that an average?

Any other creative ways to help her get here faster?  Anyone with experience having a relative sponsored by a local company for a work visa?  Just brainstorming...

Thanks!

She already has a work visa? Is the company U.S. based?

Is your husband still a LPR or does he have his citizenship yet?

Good questions.  My hubby is a us citizen now.  I’m not sure what the exact arrangement is that she currently has.  It’s with one of the major cruise lines.  It enables her to fly to Miami or Seattle or wherever to meet the ships.  She works in housekeeping.  I’ll try to find out exactly what kind of work visa she’s got and who the sponsor employer is.
