Bringing my Spouse and stepdaughter
« on: March 26, 2019, 05:07:51 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Hope all is well. I'm new here and I'm so happy to find this place! I married my husband in the DR about three months ago and I'm looking into bringing him and his daughter into the US. What I wanted to know is what forms I need to fill out so that I can start the petitioning process especially since I'm petitioning for him and my stepdaughter combined. I'm guessing that I may have to start with the I-130 form? I just want to make sure that I'm using the right form(s). If so, I'll appreciate any useful information that applies to my situation. Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for not researching the site as much as possible and asked a question that is already answered throughout the forum. I just been on a time crunch as I wasn't aware that I can start filing for my spouse/stepdaughter as soon as I married. I mistakenly thought that I had to wait 3 months...

Anyways, the one question I do have is do I have to file a separate I-130 form for my husband and stepdaughter separately?  As well as pay 2 filing fees? If so, I'll appreciate it. Thank you.

Yes, you will have 2 separate petitions, fees, everything. What you pay for one, you pay the same for the other except where it comes to the medical exam.

Hi D-mo. Thank you for your response! I just finished filling out both I-130 forms for my spouse and stepdaughter separately.

I was wondering, do I need to fill out any additional forms? I was following the CR1 example from  Yessie's post but I'm not sure if its relevant to the type of petition that I'm filling out for my spouse/stepdaughter? Especially that we got married a couple of months ago? I saw other forms listed in her cover sheet checklist such as forms G-325A, Etc.

Yes, there is more to do. Im not sure the G325a is used any more. If you look on the uscis website and look up the current I-130 instructions, it should list everything that is requested to go with the I-130.
