Ok everyone here it goes....
Franklin and I have known each other since we were kids all playing in the backyard of his parent's house or my grandmother's. His sister and I have always been the best of friends. As we got older, he started to develop feelings for me. We were about 14 at the time and started a relationship a "escondidas." He used to write me love letters and draw pictures for me of hearts & teddy bears. The one that I loved the most was a picture of 2 doves holding a sign saying "Te amo Fiol."
Well my grandmother went looking through my things and found it all. After that I was not allowed out of the house because as she said we were too young! I came back to NY and thought that I would forget him and he would forget me. Time proved me wrong, we never forgot one another. By the time my family accepted him, I was on a rebel streak and would not pay no mind to him. I ended up in another relationship, in which I got pregnant. I went back to DR and when we saw each other again it was as if we never stopped seeing each other. We both were at a loss for words.
We spoke for hours and decided that we had lost too much time playing games and that it was time to try to get back what he "lost." We started dating again and he went to my house and spoke to my parents they were ecstatic to know we had decided to be together, he also told them that he wanted their blessings to marry me. I was unaware of what was going on until one night we went dancing with his family and friends. We went to a club and while they played our song "Medicina de Amor" by Zacarias Ferreira he leaned over and whispered in my ear "Mi amor quiero que seas mia para siempre. Te casarias conmigo?" (my love i want you to be mine forever. Would you marry me?) At first I was shocked and surprised but filled with joy as the man that I loved my whole life just asked me to be his wife. Everyone was just waiting for my answer and when I said "Yes" they all started to yell and right away the drinks.
And that is how my SO and I met and after 14 years are now ready to get married.

They should do an archaeological dig of letrinas in DR, I'm pretty sure they'd turn up with some interesting stuff (could've had a pun there, but decided against it) lol
