kverdugo, did you tell the CO you wanted to be interviewed for the IR-I?  I wonder if it's the IR-1 that are taking so long.

Does the type of visa matter for delivery time?  I guess I was under the impression that this wasn't a factor... Insight, anyone??  Just trying to plan for when our time finally rolls around!  yeah  Limited vacation time, ya know!

Yeah I was suprised that the CO gave us the option. We originally were going to do the IR1 for K3 switch thing but when we found out they sent our I130 back I thought it wasn't going to work. The CO told me we could and the I130 was on it's way back to the consulate and she would have to go back to get the vacunas. Anyways...diske the only thing holding up them issuing the visa is the I130 petition.

So, Tropical and Kverdugo, you guys are still waiting on docs in transit for the NVC?  That most likely is the hold-up, not the visa type, IMHO... Hope things get worked out soon for the both of you!

It shouldn't really makes any difference. The only problem with our case is that they supposedly sent the I130 back to the NVC in late Jan. Even though the NVC says they[the consulate] never sent it.

Yes, my doc's were supposedly sent from the NVC the same week of our interview 3/11, Tim says it takes like a week to clear customs, so it very well could be the hold up....After waiting soooo long for an interview, you'd think that finally you'd rest easy once your approved, BUT, the wait goes on, hopefully this one will be a matter of 3 or 4 weeks only(we've already been waiting 2).  We're anxious to be together already & start our life here in the states.  People here (I get this all the time) can't understand why this process is so complicated & long & why the US would put families & loved ones thru this ordeal, Americans don't realize how the rest of the world has it when it comes time for them to try to travel out of their countries.

You will NOT be sorry you waited a bit more, trust me, no AOS, no EAD, no Advance parole, not even lifting conditions as I just did, nothing, nada, after they get here. 10 year green card right away, and SS card too. No problems in the US. You will be glad you did it.

The only thing that scares me is that the NVC says they were never sent the I130 from Sto Dgo because it never left there and the Consulate says it's on it's way back from the NVC... which makes no sense. In my opinion, for what it's worth, they should just issue the visa since common sense says the I130 was obviously already approved we got this far.

To do this you had to tell them at interview time to make the arrangement.  You can also try calling them at their Santo Domingo number.

My SO called to see if it was there at SD....If it's there the day he calls, he can pick it up, if it's out for delivery than he'll just have to wait for them to deliver.  So far they haven't received it from the consulate & don't have any further details for us.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, they should just issue the visa since common sense says the I130 was obviously already approved we got this far.

I agree, I don't know what all of the mystery is about.  If they have your info(which they must have cause when they interview you they have a whole bunch of papers in front) and they know your I-130 was approved by the NVC in the first place and you're supplying everything they've asked for the day of your interview, why does this have to hold up your visa being issued, just like everyone else that's gone & received it in 4 to 7 days.

My biggest frustration here is the fact that our 2 year old hadn't seen her dad in 8 months.  When she saw him again she was distant w/him & finally after the first week we were there she started warming up to him again & than we had to leave without him, this has confused the heck out of her.  I had to run after her when we went into immigration at the airport in STI cause she wanted her Daddy & than on the plane she was crying calling for him.  It broke my heart & all because of some 'mistake' and some red tape.  How do you explain that to a 2 year old...

Exactly! I mean We've already been waiting for 2 yrs + now we gotta wait for the petition they already know was approved. In my case they don't even know where it's at.
