Thats very true, its what makes us a good team.
In this particular case though Tim, the petitioner has no ties what so ever to the US

I have been counseling this member on how to GET ties with the US,

The I-864 instructions spell out the requirements or at least the suggested items that will determine
Domicile in the US and how to qualify as a petitioner

 lost Now I'm confused too...

We're planning on doing the DCF within the next month...but now I'm worried that I won't qualify.

1.  What's the deal with income requirements?  In a different post someone said that they don't matter anymore.  Since graduating from school I've only worked in the DR making pesos so I can't prove any great income from the past in the states or currently in the DR.  Maybe I just need to find a co-sponsor??

2.  For DCF, I have to prove I've lived here continuously for 6 months.  This may sound silly, but does that include a 10 day trip I took to the states in July?  Also, we all know how the DR is with the $10 tourist card when you enter the country....and if you overstay (30 days??) then you just pay the impuesto when you leave.  Will things like pay stubs from work be enough to show that I'm not a tourist or student?

Thanks.....

But won't you still have to pay it since you are a USC?
I had to pay $20 USD for staying 4 months.

The fines for overstaying are all posted on the internet.  I think it's 3-9 months is 500 pesos.

Pay for what?  My main question is that to do DCF, you have to either be a Dominican resident or prove you've lived in the DR for at least 6 months.  I'm not a Dominican resident, but have lived here for over a year (except for 2 separate week-long trips to the states).  I read up above that you have to prove you're not here under temporary status.... The issue is that the DR government "requires" a work visa...but not really.  So I've never had a work permit here, although they're trying to get me one in my current job.  So I'm asking about my ability to prove I've been living here for over 6 months and not under a "temporary" status.  Make sense?

Like mentioned before ... You don't need DR residence or anything like a work permit

All you need is proof that you have lived in DR for over 6 months this would include employer letter, paystubs, lease, utilities, bank statements etc etc

There is a guide in our download section

The impuestos for overstaying havenothing to do with DCF .. But your passport and entries/exits do have to do with it
