A lot of people have tried the "Unofficial ceremony" however the parents know the difference and its just a waste of time. There are only 2 ways to get married in the DR

1. By the local judge (which everyone in town knows)
2. In a Catholic church

Any other "religious" ceremony are not legal here and everyone knows it

If they get married before she hits the US, HER VISA IS INVALID. They WILL find out. It's not worth taking the chance.

Tim is correct, the chance you would be taking by having a marriage before she enters the U.S. is just not worth it. Parents get pissed, oh well, they will forgive and forget
