Thank you .  I really sincerely wish I found this site sooner.  I love him and should he come here and leave me, then that was God's plan.  What can I do?  I love him and his family.  My friends, family co-workers and guy friends have all met him throughout the years and our families are now close.  

The saddest thing about it all is, if he was not assaulted, I would have never started the immigration process.  He didn't understand why I didn't move to DR as promised at the end of 2005.

I fell in love with the Dominican Republic, the country itself, and traveling to see him on my terms when I chose too.  I could come and go as I pleased and didn't really have to alter my life to accommodate a new husband.  

Me and my people went to DR to see him when I wanted to.  It became somewhat of a game to me and we lost a lot of time.  I am so sorry for that.

At this point Shalaina, the only thing you can really do is keep your eyes open. I can't say your man is definately a Sanky, I don't know him, but the description of when and where you met fits the bill. Just be careful and watch for attitude changes, changes in routine, etc. When you think he has answered a question on your mind.... ask again. When you think he has been entirely honest with you, take note and ask about it again later.

The last thing I want to do is put doubt into the mind of a real, honest to goodness marriage. But you REALLY need to be aware of the possibilities. Think with your MIND.... not your heart!

LOL OMG this is funny as hell.  Girlfriend um no offense but your manner of writing is a little young for your picture.  What do you do for a living?  Just curious I guess.

I am interactive project manager at a large MedEd company. 

Also, who would lie and say their husband was shot and stabbed.  Seriously.  Would you prefer I articulate my story in different way, please provide suggestions, I am curious to see your writing style to help me deduce your age.  Just a little bit curious myself I guess. 

Shalaina I am am big enough to admit I was wrong.  I apologize insulting your age but in my defense the tone was almost kid like.  We have also had a lot of people pretending on this site just coming here to start trouble.  Also I know it was suggested you speed up the story but then it went oh by the way my husband was shot and cut.  I realize now that you did not mean it that way just was usual.

But anway good luck to you and I am glad you have found your love.  Like D-Mo said just keep your eyes open but you know him better than any of us.

No worries and I really appreciate all the advice and information here on this site. 

I think what we all have to come to terms with is we all have taken chances with our love life, pre and post loving Dominican men and/or women.  I could be married to an American and lose money if I had some, get a divorce, be cheated on, abused, or whatever, this type of thing happens everyday. 

I will no longer defend my relationship with my husband but I do welcome all advice because this is uncharted waters for me personally.  (My mother married my stepfather and he is Nigerian.  She was traveling there on business and they are still together, 26 years later).

God will reveal all that is covered in His time not mine.  smooches.

This looks legit to me judging from the IP address and other info I can't share with you.

I will say that what she wrote in the beginning is EXACTLY what many American women think - "look at all those bronze bodies" etc. etc. It's almost the same reaction every time.

Consider the following points:

She was ENGAGED to be married at the time she CHEATED on the guy. In my book, once a cheater, always a cheater.

He was at Western Union. Need I say more. To the OP, a few things are wrong with that. He may say he was there with his brother but did you ever think maybe another chica was sending him $$$? Most people who have SOs in the DR know that WU is not the place to send money, it's the most expensive way. Usually naive tourists use WU.

The don't speak each other's language. Bad sign. You absolutely have to have something besides sex to make the relationship last. That requires communication on a deep level.

Be glad you didn't move there. Jobs are scarce and they don't pay much at all. You usually work 6 days, and there are NO labor laws to speak of. Not fun. After the first two weeks or so, it's no longer "vacation".

BUT if your hubby comes here and cheats on you or abuses you or leaves once he has the visa it is not God's plan it just means your hubby is an asshole
