Long story...but i will make it short.

While living in Tampa, Florida, my mother would call me from DR to tell me about all the "great" guys down there. I paid her no mind since I was not interested in a relationship at the time. So she called me about "Juan" one day to randomly and started to tell me all about him. Again i didnt listen and one day i just got funny with her and told her to record him and give him an interview "cristina" style. And so she did. On a Saturday he was over my aunt's house and after lunch they sat him down in the living room chair, and literally put a camara in front of him and asked him a million and one questions. He had no idea why they were doing that...so he says...but i think he did have an idea since my mom had mentioned me before. SHE HAD THE NERVE TO SHOW HIM MY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION PICTURE - WHICH WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!!

But anyway, soon after, my mom came to Tampa to visit me and brought the video with her. I immediately watched it (dique not interested...LOL) and i liked what i saw and what i heard. 2 days later i called him, while he was in the library studying and what not.. he answers the phone:

"Hello?"
"Hi is this juan?" (me)
"Si, quien es?"
"Es tu futura esposa." (me)
"Tienes el telefono equivocado, no tengo novia"
"Como va ser?, no es usted Juan? Y no esta en la UNAD?" (me)
"Si pero....ooooooo, tu eres hija de la señora altagracia?"
"Si, como estas, estaba bromeando...blah blah blah" (me)

So after this 30 second intro i totally freeze and find nothing else to say. He then tells me he has to get back to his studying (nerd) and to call him back later on that evening. So i did, we talked till 7 in the morning from 10pm. CRAZY!!! IT was meant to be.

Spoke everyday on the phone for 2 weeks and then he proposed. (AT this point i still havent been to DR to see him, just exchanging pictures on the internet.)
I fly to DR on 12/28/2007 - meet the family. Very awkward but they fell in love with me.
01/16/2008 - Get married.
01/19/2008 - Return to tampa.
LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS SUCK!!!!
07/08/2008 - Moved to DR...lived with him for 9 months.
05/14/2009 - Moved back to Jersey.... bang head
09/08/2009 - Submitted I-130

Now in process of AOS. Missing my baby. He is awesome, gorgeous, friendly and very kind and sweet and everything else a girl can want. The whole package. CAnt complain, only miss him each day more and more.

I know, its mad funny the way things turned out.
The video was interesting...i think im going to write a Novel.
It was crazy because after just 2 weeks he actually proposed and i still had not seen him yet.
I mean i saw him in the video and in pictures and he looked good so it wasnt like a blind date thing. But when i first saw him in the airport you know, the works: butterflies in my stomach, sweaty hands, nervous as can be, etc. But it felt like we knew eachother from so long. After the first 30 minutes together we were just another normal couple.

My mom is crazy!! She used to drive my boyfriends away when i was younger. Who would have thought that she would be the one to find my husband??? Hmmmm...Manpiola is right!!! rolling on the floor laughing

But the hubby is great!!! No complaints at all, our anniversary is on Jan 16th. It will be two years!!! 2 verly long years in an on-and-off long distance relationship. One day im with him in dr the next im not and it SUCKS MAJOR BALLS!!!!

Thanks for the tip Tim. This is actually the first time ever that i joined a forum and i swear i dont know how to use this damn thing!!!  bang head What is the difference between a new topic and a new poll? I guess anyone can answer that. IS there a manual to this site??? I really need it!

Very cute story...and let me tell you that my mother was the same way...she hated all the guys I dated and was always on the lookout for a man for me...she would embarrass me everywhere I went with her (including her doctors)...and needless to say that she planned my trip to DR so I can meet my now husband and I had no idea that was her intentions...I was hooked the moment I saw him and the rest is history...

It really is crazy because my mother passed away four months after that trip but I know she is looking down on us happy that I married someone of her choice.

Thanks. She only had to wait 8 years and 2 months for the cita. Her brother had his a few weeks back and had the visa in his hands 4 days later
