Hi Everyone... First of all I want to tell you that I've been reading the posts here for a while and find them very informative and cool.

I am starting the process to petition my SO with a K1 visa.  I already filled out the I-129F form and I'm just waiting for my SO to send me back his G-325A form signed.  Of course I have many questions and I am very stressed out right now because I don't want to miss anything I'm supposed to send or make any mistakes.

Can anybody give me kind of a checklist of EVERYTHING I need to send with my I-129F?  I know I need the G-325A one for each, proof of my citizenship, pictures of us, how many do you recommend? Any other evidence I need to send right now? Do I need to send his BC now too or is that at a later time?  I was thinking about going to a lawyer but I'm confident I could do it myself and save me some $$$. Any advice/help will appreciated.  Thank you in advance and keep up the good work.

Welcome to the site! Have you thought about doing a CR1 instead. It would be a much better choice.  No need for a lawyer, just a waste of money. We can all help you out.

Thanks Diamondback..

I didn't know much about doing a CR1 before I started reading here, and everyone I asked they said a K1 was faster than getting marry  but looks like it is not the case any more Sad I already have everything for the K1 plus I just came back from DR and won't be going back until at least April, so I want to go ahead with the K1 since I will have to wait until April to the CR1 then.

The flights are cheap right now and all you need are three days in DR and "BAM!" you're married. K-1 is definitely not the way to go.

What I don't understand is, if you have been reading this forum for a while and you just came back from DR, why didn't you listen to all the good suggestions here, get married and go the CR-1 route? If you post a poll I bet you everyone here will advise you to do the same. I did a K-1, and I kick myself in the head everyday for doing so. My SO is at home with nothing to do, no way to contribute because he doesn't have permission to work. You can imagine how much it hurts his male ego that "his woman" is the bread winner of the house.

Now if you want to spend an extra $750 dollars +the Moltrin for the headaches, go ahead do the K-1, but don't say we didn't warn you.

I agree with Andrelly.  However, if you're deadset on doing the K1 here's a checklist:

I-129F Application
Application Fee (check or money order)
Signed G-325A Form (you)
Signed G-325A Form (your SO)
2 passport size photos of you (print name on back)
2 passport size photos of your SO (print name on back)
Proof of your US citizenship such as copy of your US passport bio page OR copy of your birth certificate
Letter of Intent from you
SO Letter of Intent
A few pictures of the two of you

Finally, in my critique of the immigration image of America, it is also important to know that we're not only a nation of immigrants, but we are in some part a nation of emigrants, which often gets neglected.
