[Frank the Tank]

I had the pleasure of meeting Tim and Naeroby (hope I spelled it right) in person a few years ago in Santo Domingo, and one thought always stuck in my mind-despite their age difference, they seemed like soul mates. It is impossible to articulate on an internet site, it was just the way they interacted with each other that seemed so effortless-it was as if they had known each other all their lives.

Whatever their actual problems were, it is an unfortunate circumstance that they split up. All I know is Tim put his heart into making the relationship work. He certainly is a better man than I for all that he sacrificed in his endeavor to bring his wife over from the DR.

I noticed a few posters taking the approach that they should air out their dirty laundry in public, the details to be picked apart by vultures who have no sense of dignity. And for what? To gloat over their misfortune as a tit-for-tat revenge tactic? For the sake of "telling it like it is"?

"Tim is down, let's get him for all the things he's said about others in the past!!!"

Look at what arose from his experiences. He created this site, which is as comprehensive as any I've ever seen on any topic. And he did so to help others out of the kindness of his heart. There are certain sections that don't pertain to the whole visa process meant for chit-chat, bonding and the letting off of steam. This is quite understandable seeing as this process can be long and frustrating and the worst thing for a person dealing with it is to feel like they're going through it alone.

So Tim has allowed these sections to grow for the purposes of creating a family atmosphere amongst some of the posters. But a few times, like now, it has turned into a steel cage match and it has debased the overall integrity of the site. I wonder out loud how and why people cannot control their baser instincts for the sake of civility. The belittling of others, exactly when they need some positive encouragement the most, is disgraceful regardless of who engages in it.

I assume that most of us have a decent enough command of the English language to voice concerns over the actions of others without it turning into an episode of Jerry Springer. The whole "tell it like it is" mantra is just an excuse for a bunch of spiteful, tactless ignoramuses to spew vitriol at people they will never meet in person.

I don't have a horse in this race, which is why I never post on this site, but I do read it on occasion. I came to the conclusion that the Dominican culture is one I will never understand, and at this point there is nothing in it for me to turn my life upside down for something that comes at such a great emotional and financial cost if it turns out that I've made a mistake.

I wanted to take this time to voice my opinion and to thank Tim for all of his efforts in putting this site together and for being strong enough to publicly expose what is going on in his personal life. He needs support right now, regardless of what's happened or not happened in the past as far as these petty internet battles are concerned.

Tim, you have my sincerest condolences.

This is my take on Tim's situation.

It's not an attack on him or her.

It's only MY OPINION, which is NOT written in stone.

She used Tim to come to the US,
She is not bi-sexual, she is a lesbian.

That I could be wrong, of couse, but things just don't add up.

She should've told him when they were dating and if Tim wanted to continue with the relationship knowing full well people don't change, that's on him. But at least he had a choice. Not telling him until AFTER they got married is fucked-up.

People CAN'T say "he/she is the love of my life" AFTER cheating on them, with a woman, a man, a goat or whatever.

One way to prove your love for someone is by NOT cheating on them.

Words are just that, words. And we all know "actions" speak louder than "words".

Like my wife and I have been telling one another for years, "tell me you love me with words and actions, not just words".

Let me tell you, even if I think my wife is the best thing next to "money", we have been married for so long and I think we have a perfect marriage, she fucking cheats on me with WHOMEVER, OUT SHE GOES, THE SAME DAY. And I wouldn't give a shit if she is a great person and we had a great relationship.

And if she fucking tells me I am the love of her life AFTERWARD, I swear to god, I'll probably beat the shit out of her.

I would take such statement as an insult and slap on the face.

I do feel sorry for Tim, but I also think his love for her is blinding him.

I think you misunderstood.  I think Oneandonly was refering to Melquins' post that MQ posted on DR1 that she is still with Tony (which she did). I know I went straight to DR1 to find that post.  A bunch of other DTTUSAers probably did the same, hence "flooding that site".

In a new relationship, if ONE person lies to the other, or doesn't tell the other about a "situation" that MOST probably will break the relationship, it could be interpreted as the one witholding the truth to have ulterior motives (an agenda). Especially when  dealings with Dominicans-Gringos relationships.

I don't know if Tim is like a friend of mine who thinks he can change the world, but one thing I know, no man looking for a serious and committed relationship would ever continue with said relationship AFTER the woman tells him she is bi-sexual.

Unless he is into sharing his woman with other women. Or unless he hopes to share her girlfriend/s also.

One don't leave.  Right now Tim is not in a good place.  None of us would be if we were in his shoes.  Right now he is in pain and reacting, I think we would all be better if we just chill a little with him and just wait it out.  He needs to grieve like we all would.  Besides I would miss reading your hilarious posts so you have to stay.

It's not about a relationship not working out, or two people growing apart. It's about the duplicity that was there in the relationship from the very beginning and you not owning up to it until after you two got married.

Tim is a very forgiving soul. You should thank your lucky stars for that.
