Michele y Miguel

I have been a member now for a couple weeks and I figured I should let you all know our love story.

I was introduced to Miguel in early 2007 by a mutual friend. He was here in the states playing baseball but had recently got hurt and was rehabing in NJ. The first night we met at our friends house, he was hardly speaking at all and I thought why did she make me come over and meet him. Later that night I needed to give another friend a ride home and he asked if he could come with me. So I said sure. It was about a 30 minute ride so we chatted a little back and forth but with my non spanish speaking skills and his little bit of english it was very odd. I dropped him back off at the house he was staying at and he leaned over and kissed me....and I felt something I have never felt b4 . But I thought how could this ever work. He doesn't know english. Two days later and called my phone and wanted to hang out. We ended up going to the movies and then out for some food. The night ended with another kiss and I still got that great feeling. We started hanging out more and more. About Mayish he had a baseball tryout in FL and I was so sad to say goodbye. He ended up not making the team and coming back a week later.....I was soo happy. He was told by his agent that the season was over for him and next year was anther year. Since his visa was still good, he got a job and an apt. We were hanging out every night. He got along great with my family and friends and his english was not as bad as I had originally thought, its just that he gets nervous and doesn't talk. Also my spanish skills were picking up....if only my HS spanish teachers could see me now....lol. I realized that love is not simple but if its meant to be then its meant to be language barriers or not. Miguel and I were married on November 10th. His visa expired the end of Dec and he went back 2 DR. The saddest day you could ever imagine. If we only knew then what we know now. That he didn't have 2 go back. We just wished we would have done some research. I flew to DR in Jan and met all his family and friends. In the meantime he was going to many try outs in DR for baseball, we were advised not to file the I130 because it would mess up his visa for baseball and once he was back in the US for baseball we could then do the adjustment of status. So we waited and waited and he was never picked up by a US team. He was trying out for a Canadian team also but after he got the Canadian Visa the team said no that it was too far into the season at that point. So now it was now July and I headed back to DR. We got everything together and I submitted the I130 forms when I returned from my trip. I was there again in Dec 08 and in Feb 09. I miss him everyday. We speak all the time and I still get that great feeling every time. I believe that being so far from each other has made our marriage stronger. I love him with all of my heart and cannot wait to be able to spend our lives together forever. I am also greatful for finally finding this website. We sure could have used you back in Dec 07.
