Approved!!

Thanks everyone!

The trip was amazing. I wish we were still there, but I'm glad we're home now. The interview went really well. We arrived @ 5am. We waited outside for about an hour until they started letting people inside at about 6. There were probably already 75 people ahead of us. So we got inside, and when people before have said the benches are uncomfortable, they weren't lying! The benches made the wait seem even longer because I was shifting around every ten minutes trying to get comfortable.

So around 7:30 his name was called and we went to window 21 and handed in the first set of papers. The lady seemed nice, but didn't talk to me. She only talked to him and gave him the ticket with number 117. So we sat back down and waited 2 hours for his number to be called to window 13 for fingerprints.

After that, we waited another 2.5 hours for our # to be called for the interview part. We got called to window 21 again. It was a different lady this time. She looked about late 30's early 40's and was American but spoke perfect spanish. She swore us both in in spanish. Then she started with me.

1. How did you meet?
2. Did you start dating right away or did you wait a while?
3. Do you have any kids together?
4. Do either of you have any children from a different partner?

That was it for me, so she moved on to him... she asked him the same questions in spanish and also asked him how long we have been together. She saw that we had a binder with pictures so she asked him to open it. He flipped through the pictures and finally she said ok that was sufficient. She smiled at us when she said that, so I felt good about it. She typed on her computer for about a minute and then looked up at us and said congratulations, your visa is approved.

We hugged each other and couldn't stop smiling. We walked over to the Domex line and told them we wanted to pick up the visa in Santiago. So one week later, the visa was ready and we went to Santiago to pick it up. We were both so happy and couldn't believe that it was actually going to happen.

We spent a lot of time with his family after that. It was a great 2 weeks there, and I really didn't want to leave. But coming home with him was the best experience ever!! I put him by the window on the plane so he could see everything outside. He loved it. He also loved the fact that the plane had personal tv's and you could watch whatever you wanted. It was so much fun to watch him experience everything for the first time.

More to come later on, but right now, just enjoying my time with him. The fact that I can hug and kiss him any time I want is probably the best feeling I have ever felt.
