People with interview scheduled after June 4 should definitely take a look at this link. it basically states that the US embassy is increasing the fee for every type of visas. the K1 visa is going up from $131 to $350. very important information for those with scheduled interview after June 4 who already paid their BP fee as they might have to pay an additional fees.

Well, I read it, and it says for NON IMMIGRANT visas.

Another reason for not doing K-1.

I'm not so sure this is true guys. I have not heard anything from NVC or USCIS regarding this at all and we would have heard by now.

I'll check it out. Yessie, can you help me out with this also?

Just FYI, there is NOTHING on the US Embassy web site about this - it still says $131 is the fee. If this was real, there would ave been an announcement. I know that at one time they were CONSIDERING changing the fees but I don't believe it was the BP fee. At any rate, this ain't happening on June 4th so don't worry about it folks, and FOR SURE, don't pay anyone this amount.

Here it is in English from the Washington Times,  unfortunately it looks like it's true.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/may/24/state-department-increase-nonimmigrant-visa-fees/

It's too bad they don't grandfather those who sent the petition before the fee increase was announced.  Seems like bait and switch to me, you petition thinking it's one price and then they change it halfway through the process.

If people do the K1 after this (if it's true) they are downright NUTS. This does not apply to immigrant visas so the CR-1 is a super duper bargain now!

The new K visa fee will be $350 PLUS what you already paid for the I-129F PLUS what you will pay in the future for AOS.

I still think there are legitimate reasons for doing the K-1, BUT if $$$ is at all a consideration the K-1 is probably not a reasonable choice.

I think USCIS and US Embassies are being fed up with the overload amount of K1 visa applications and they want people to slow down a bit, wait untill the fee to file for 129F goes from like 455 to maybe 1000, everyone will go the other route.

Chrispy, not for nothing but I'm pretty sure we all told you that you shouldn't go the K1 route (I, myself did anyways). There's a reason why we advise people to do other things other then the one the plan on doing, because sometimes what they plan on doing isn't the best way to go. Sorry dude, you brought this on yourself Sad

K1 visa is now $960 more expensive than a CR-1, and we still haven't been able to but a price on the headaches.
