tourist visa for nanny?
« on: April 16, 2011, 01:49:36 pm »
Hi. I am an American citizen who has been living in the DR for 11 years.

I am married to a Dominican woman and we have two kids together. My wife has a tourist visa, and my kids are both US citizens.

We have decided that it is time for the kids to meet their grandparents and uncles and will be taking a summer vacation to the USA.

We would like our nanny to accompany us as our kids can be a bit of a handful sometimes but she handles them beautifully and it just wouldn't be a fun vacation without her help, which we have grown accustomed to.

I have a Dominican business with an RNC # as well as a US corporation I own and manage from abroad.

Our nanny is an older woman, around 60 years old and owns property in the DR. She has been with us for over 2 years.

I have prepared her work contract for the trip promising her wage, and I believe I have filled the requirements as I am aware of them. I understand that approval will be subject to the interviewers understanding of whether she intends to return to the DR after the trip or will use the opportunity to attempt to migrate to the USA illegally.

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

I realize this is not an easy visa to get, however I have heard that is is possible and many Dominican families seem to be able to travel to the USA with their domestic employees in tow.

I would appreciate any input from experienced individuals on this matter.

Sorry John,  not too many people here can relate to your problem.
But I'm sure we're all glad the nanny will accompany you, so y'all can have a quality time
at your vacations.

I was wondering the same, how did she get her appointment in one day.  :moon:

Was it granted as a tourist visa or a work visa?
